Busy weekend

I've had a productive weekend. Friday, I was off work, so I finally finished my income taxes. I always put that off because doing the taxes for my business is such a bore. But I buckled down and got it done; glad that's off my plate!

Doing my taxes made me take a hard look at some of my inventory. So, on Saturday, after cleaning house, I listed on eBay some stuff that has been sitting on my shelves too long. I'm tired of looking at the stuff. It's listed here; please take it off my hands!

Today, I got to have fun. This morning, the b/f and I went target shooting. It was a bit cold and windy, but we managed to stick it out for a couple of hours. Then we came home, and while the b/f cleaned guns, I played in the dirt. I'm pleased to say the asparagus is doing well:

I think I'll have some for dinner tonight. And some of my snow peas are up:

I planted quite a bit more than that, though; hope some more will be showing up soon! And I got my potatoes planted (finally). No pics of that, since there's nothing to see but dirt right now. I'm really hoping they'll do well this year. I've never had good luck with potatoes before, but I recently read that they should be planted 2-3 weeks before the average last frost date. I've always planted them well after! If this spring is like the last three, they should have plenty of cool weather to produce lots of potatoes for me. Mmmmm, home grown potatoes; my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's amazing to me how much better they taste than the ones from the store (and I like those just fine).

Now I'm toying with the idea of buying a cold frame like this one. Not only would it be handy in the spring, but I've been reading Four Season Harvest again, and I have a hankering to give it a try. Fresh veggies next winter sure would be nice. But really, right now, I just want to be able to do more in the garden. It seems like nice weather is taking so long to get here, and I'm dying to get my hands dirty.
